About the Project
GPT Answering Machine was a project created during the inaugural OpenHome Voice AI Hackathon.
Unlike traditional voicemail, GPT Answering Machine is:
Dynamic: The program responds to your questions and comments as if you were really talking to your friend.
Personality-Infused: The accompanying web page is designed to help you customize the answering machine, allowing you to choose among tone, voice, topic choice, to accurately simulate your friend’s speaking style.
Remembers about You: The program remembers information from your conversation and will pick up on your conversation right where you left off! Go ahead, say your name or what you’re up to.

The GPT Answering Machine app offers a revolutionary way to keep in touch with friends by simulating their unique way of speaking through an interactive and user-friendly GUI. Upon launching the app, users are greeted with an intuitive interface where they can select various features to customize the tone, voice, and content of their friend’s simulated responses. Options include adjusting the level of formality or casualness in the tone, choosing among different voice modulation settings to closely match their friend’s speaking style, and tailoring the content by selecting topics that are of interest to the friend or pertinent to past conversations. This app not only bridges the gap during times when friends are unavailable but also adds a personalized touch to communication, making it feel like you’re chatting with your friend in real-time.
